Nota do autor:
[Verse 1]
Everyday’s the same, washing dishes in the kitchen
Trying to understand why my life’s such a missing
Dealing every day with people I don't even like
Alarm goes off and the dread starts to fill in
Why can't I just win a million
And live my life the way that God’s designed?
[Chorus]
Working overtime, It's the American way of living
Full of stop signs preventing you from keeping
Behind every mastermind, stealing your credits
And I am just so tired, and it’s just a normal day, yeah
Nine to five, not causing a commotion
I was thirty five, when I earned my first promotion
Need to bow my head down to what the boss tells me
When the clock strikes 5, all I want is
To get out of here
Hmmm
[Verse 2]
They step on your dreams and made them broken glass
Every day higher in the ladder of success
And I have something they can't even take away
Is this how everyday people should end?
It's just one boat that we're all in
Passing through high tides, seeing the calm sea on the way
[Chorus 2]
Working overtime, It's the American way of living
Full of stop signs preventing you from keeping
Behind every mastermind, stealing your credits
But I am just so tired, and it’s just a normal day, yeah
Nine to five, you couldn’t stop even if you want to
Maybe it’s the burnout, but I fucking need this money
Hopes it just a phase, in few years comes my retirement
When the clock strikes 5, all I want is
To get out of here
[Chorus]
Overtime, It's the American way of living
Full of stop signs preventing you from keeping
Behind every mastermind, stealing your credits
And I am just so tired, and here comes another order
Nine to five, not causing a commotion
I was thirty five, when I earned my first promotion
Need to bow my head down to what the boss tells me
When the clock strikes 5, all I want is
To get out of here
