Harmon's commentary: "When I think of Barbie, the first thing that comes to my mind is how she was crucial for the shift in femininity image. Hyper feminine women are often described as weak, dumb, dependant on men in every way, like, financially, emotionally, even subconsciously sometimes. That's why a lot of times, only tomboy-like women or hypersensual dark women are taken seriously. I think Barbie helped little girls who would turn into women like me to, you know, think by ourselves and for ourselves, believe that we're strong enough, smart enough, good enough to be a lone body and a lone mind as opposed to an apentice. I think before we had, say, Elle Woods from Legally Blonde or Gracie Hart from Miss Congeniality, who became a hyperfeminine woman without changing her talents, skills and personality, we had Barbie, showing every little girl we COULD have our work, our mind and our own personality to begin with. I love Barbie and I'm so honored to be a part of her new chapter. Thank you, Greta. Thank you to every fellow artist who's in this together and last but never least, thank you Barbie.
Everyone that ever had the chance to get me
never ever got the chance to at least forget me
I am the winds in their sails, O2 they need to breathe
woah, oh-oh
I'm always picked on cause there's nothing I can't do
If it’s not me then you’re wrong in whoever you will choose
Baby, it’s me, you’ll never get me out of the blue
woah, oh-oh
I can be feminine and soft
still have the strength to back them off
they think I can only spell couth
I ain’t letting them steal my youth
Baby, I am your barbie girl
the world's an oyster and I’m your pearl
I could color your whole world
shape your body like my linen and curls
Woah-oh
Let’s be free before our life passes
when your sky looks like smoke and ashes
you can call me your rose colored glasses
(ey-oh)
I can be president, artist, everything in between
They find it difficult to see just because I wear pink
but baby girls, listen to me, you can be anything
woah, oh-oh
Tell all my haters to back off
you see me working my ass off
Pink lips and skirt, I am your boss
I build all the bridges you cross
Baby, I am your barbie girl
the world's an oyster and I’m your pearl
I could color your whole world
shape your body like my linen and curls
Woah-oh
Let’s be free before our life passes
when your sky looks like smoke and ashes
you can call me your rose colored glasses
(ey-oh)
Our future looks so pink and bright
Take over the world before moonlight
never going down without a fight
the planet will be mine before the night
Baby, I am your barbie girl
the world's an oyster and I’m your pearl
I could color your whole world
shape your body like my linen and curls
Baby, I am your barbie girl
you see me working my ass off
Pink lips and skirt, I am your boss
I build all the bridges you cross
Baby, I am your barbie girl
the world's an oyster and I’m your pearl
I could color your whole world
I color your world
Baby, I am your barbie girl
